WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!

Hello from everyone at Bava International School!
It has been a while since we last communicated in this regard, but we have been updating you with almost every activity to date via our social media Facebook Page! I do hope you have joined us on Facebook to become part of our big Bava family, so you may know and like us more there! It is always important that you as parents and guardians are kept abreast with your child’s progress at school over each term. Both home and school partnership is a must, please make sure to feel equally responsible for the success of your child. Thank you.

I hear with my ears! Part of the lesson on the 5 Senses in Playschool

Learning the 12 months of the year in Playschool
11. PLAYSCHOOL CLASS – MS MATUI & MS RUTERA:
Welcome!
This term is far more relaxed than the first, but we have been keeping ourselves busy with different activities. Nigel Fraser Kudada joined us this week. Let us share some of the learning we have been doing this term so far.
Jolly Phonics: Volume 1 – SATIPN
- First, children are helped to recognise each sound and then learn the name of the sound with pictures.
- They are learning their tongue twisters for each sound.
- Then they learn to sound and blend 2 letter words: is, it, at, as, an, in.
Maths: Numbers 0-10 & Shapes
- Children are doing well with their numbers and shapes.
They can count their numbers but also learn their colours and say their poems too. - They can now recognise the shapes and colours of yellow, green, blue, red, pink, purple and black.
The Theme for this term is ” Me and My Environment.”
- The children are learning about the environment around them.
- Whether it is about themselves and their own home, or outside of their own homes and families!
Science
- The children are able to say what their 5 Senses are!
- They say, sing, and dance to poems and songs.
- They can name the parts of the plant that we learned in Weeks 4 & 5.
- We will also cover animals that are on land, fly in the air and those that swim in the sea.
Social studies
- These 3-year-old children have learned the 7 days of the week and 12 months of the year.
- In Week 4 they learned and made 4 different weather patterns.
Health
- Good habits and hand-washing activities
- This week the children will do their five good manners.
Overall the Playschools are doing well. Some of them are growing and learning very fast, creating interesting characters. Christine, Jason, Arcenciel, Troy, Renette, and Hannelle are the outspoken ones in class. Talon, Princeton, Kingkyle, and Ramon are a little bit reserved, but when asked to speak up they do. Our shy girl Kimni is slowly coming out of her shell. The little boys Koda, Maurice and Micaiah have settled nicely.
Reminders
- Parents, please pack extra diapers and a clean change of clothes for your children. This will help us to take extra care for your child more appropriately!
- Thursday is the swimming program, so please pack swimmers, change of clothes and towel. Without these items they will not be allowed to participate.
Hope you all have enjoyed reading about your little ones.
Thank you!

12. PRESCHOOL – MS HEAGI & MR PAUL:
Hello from the Preschool class.
We are happy to see our preschoolers back in Term 2. During the past 5 weeks, the students have learned many things on the theme “Me and My Environment.”
Phonics
So far the students are able to recite their tricky words: “I, the, he, she, me, we, was, and be,” which include sounding and blending of 2 and 3 letter words, “in, an, it, eat,” and more.
Numbers
The students are confident with their numbers 0-10 and the use of counting objects which help them make more sense of the numbers.
Term Theme
Their favourite song is “Little Flower Seeds.”
It helps the students with the numbers and also with the theme for this term’s theme: “Me and my environment.”
Science
Students are identifying living and non-living things.
Also identifying the characteristics of living things.
Example: a bird = I can fly.
Reminders
- Homework days: Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Concert Scripts will be given to each student to study and practice at home. *Please help your child to rehearse.
Thank you.

3. PREP & GRADE 1 CLASS – MRS MEA:
Hello from the Prep and Grade Ones. We are pleased to share some highlights this term for the past five weeks on what we have been doing.
Program
All lessons are up to date and we are doing a lot of practical activities as you all can see on our Facebook page. All assessments will be done by week 5.
Punctuality/Attendance
Few children are still coming late to school. Please help your child improve in this area.
Behavior
There are some boys who misbehave in class and I have spoken to them individually. Concerned families will be notified for their assistance! *Parents, please assist the teachers in this area as well at home.
Homework/Diaries
Please check your child’s bag/folder for his homework. So far I only have 2 students coming to school with their diaries every day. Parents, please purchase a diary for your child. It is vital for communication and convenience sake.
Highlights
Here are some children who are showing improvement in reading: Teiona, Agaru, Jemimah, Nick, Keisiva, Elnathan, Jaylanie. Our bookworms are Ethan, Winston, Randi, Mason, Carlos, Damith and Christopher.
Thank you.

14. UPPER GRADES CLASS – MR MEA:
Hello everyone and welcome to our classroom insights.
It is halfway through the term and our children are working hard to learn as much as they can.
Assessments
We have already done some unit tests and assignments for our assessments this term.
Science
Our focus is about the Environment, so we are studying and learning about the Natural, Built and Social elements of different environments.
English
Reading is a key area and I am impressed with the progress of my students so far. We are also learning our tricky words in Jolly Phonics and doing weekly spelling tests.
Attendance
Our children’s Attendance and Punctuality is very important as it can affect their progress at school. Let us all work together to ensure that our children improve in their areas of need and achieve set goals for this term and into the future.
Thank you.

15. LIBRARY CORNER – MS RUTERA:
Hi everyone and welcome back. It is pleasing and encouraging to see the students reading in the library again.
Some are even asking to borrow certain books they like to read not only on Tuesdays, but whenever they feel like to read at the school.
Some of these readers are Warren, Karo and Ethan.
Reading is a must skill so make sure to encourage your child to read! A library bag is required to borrow books. Bags are available from the office for small price.
