Kids easily get bored when at home. So, what do you need to do to get rid of their boredom? Let them watch TV all throughout the day until night time comes and fall asleep?
Though this might be tempting as it is the easiest way to entertain a child, don’t let your child’s entire day go to waste by just letting them to watch TV alone.
In fact, there are so many ways you can entertain your children. If you can’t think of any, these activities will keep your little ones busy and happy:
Hold a friendly coloring competition.
Children are always fascinated with anything that has to do with colors. Holding a coloring competition at home will potentially develop your children’s artistic side. There are cheap coloring books in the market that you can buy; there are animal coloring books, persons, nature, and more.
The competition may be between you and your child, or between all of your young children. The winner gets to take a special treat. Give your children different awards such as best in coloring, most creative, and most unique, so that everybody is a winner!
Make paper planes fly!
Despite all the technology today (smartphones and video games), nothing can beat the paper plane classics! Teach them how to fold old magazines or newspapers and turn them into paper planes. Get on a higher ground such as the stairs or even on a chair and let the paper planes fly. See whose paper plane can stay in the air longer or whose paper planes can travel farther away.
Explore the yard.
If you have a yard, encourage your child to go outdoors and explore nature with him. Teach him what kind of plants and trees grow in your garden and discover what insects and animals hide in those places. See the bottom of rocks together and look out for crickets, worms or snails. Walk on the grass and spot some grasshoppers. Even if you have a small yard, this could turn into an exciting nature adventure.
Read picture books.
Don’t let your child grow without letting them know about the classic stories such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and many more. And yes, you don’t have to worry letting your young man read those stories too. In every princess story, there are always brave princes whom they could identify themselves with. Or if you don’t want princess stories for your young man, you could make him read the Velveteen Rabbit, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Pied Piper of Hamelin, or Puss in Boots.
Have a dancing and singing competition.
This would be very fun if you have more than one child. Dress them up and have them dance and sing their hearts out even if they are out of tune. Who cares about tune if you are genuinely having fun! Now play your kids’ favorite songs and start your mini party. Don’t forget to take photos and videos of them since these are very special moments.
